AmeriHealth 2008 Year in Review
AmeriHealth had a clear vision for 2008: setting goals and implementing strategies that would allow for growth in resources, products, brand awareness, and network. We did these things for two reasons: one, to make your job easier; and two, to make AmeriHealth your carrier of choice when quoting business. Following are some of the accomplishments that have contributed to a successful year:
Resources
AmeriHealth continues to develop and provide resources to make it easier to do business with us. The following are some examples:
- We revised SEH letters to make renewals less complicated.
- We enhanced the Brokers Online Resource Center.
- We recruited talented professionals and nurtured them as members of our high-performance organization.
Products
AmeriHealth heard you when you asked for new plan designs and products. The following are some examples:
- AmeriHealth 25/50 plans for small groups (2-50);
- New HMO coinsurance option now available for large groups (51+);
- AmeriHealth 50% Rx Card;
- AmeriHealth Healthy LifestylesSM Rewards.
Brand awareness
AmeriHealth understands that in order to be competitive, you must be visible in the community. Here are some examples of how we have raised brand awareness this year:
- We placed ads at sporting events, on billboards, on the radio, in supermarkets, and on 80 buses traveling up and down New Jersey’s roadways.
- AmeriHealth banners flew behind tow planes from Cape May to Belmar beaches every weekend for the entire summer.
- We launched multiple direct-mail campaigns.
- We reaffirmed our support of the revitalization efforts in Newark by expanding our current four-year agreement with the Devils to include:
- “Official Health Care Partner of the New Jersey Devils” and “Official Health Care Partner of the Prudential Center”;
- naming rights to the practice facility now known as AmeriHealth Pavilion;
- exterior signage on the Prudential Center arena;
- on-ice logo and digital LED signage;
- full-page advertisements in the Devils souvenir game magazines.
- We continued our three-year sponsorship with the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights football team. Our renewed partnership includes:
- full-page advertisements in game-day programs;
- commercial messages broadcast on WOR/Rutgers Radio Network during game broadcasts;
- in-stadium digital LED signage;
- banner advertisement with link on the Scarlet Knights website.
- We were the presenting sponsor of the Cooper-Norcross Bridge Challenge.
Network
AmeriHealth has one of the most robust physician networks in the Garden State. In fact, AmeriHealth is No. 1 in network size in several counties throughout New Jersey. AmeriHealth also contracts with more hospitals than any other health plan in the entire state. In addition to New Jersey, AmeriHealth members have access to participating providers in Pennsylvania and Delaware, including such premier teaching hospitals as The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Significant network growth in the north and central regions
AmeriHealth continues to grow its provider network in the northern and central regions of New Jersey. We have grown our network in the four northern counties of Bergen, Hudson, Morris, and Passaic by nearly 10 percent since January 1, while our combined network growth in the 13 central and northern counties is seven percent during the same time period.
