Student Verification Clarification
We would like to update you on our initiative to enhance the student verification process and to share more details about the reports now available to customers through www.amerihealthexpress.com.
BENEFITS OF THE NEW PROCESS
This fall, we are making the student verification process consistent for all products, making the process easier for you and your customers to manage. You can look forward to these benefits:
- automatic verification of approximately 60 percent of dependent students through our partnership with the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC);
- alignment with the academic calendar;
- elimination of the school documentation requirement;
- a 24/7 toll-free, interactive phone number for parents to confirm the student status of dependents who were not automatically verified.
NEW REPORTS AVAILABLE
To make student verification even simpler and less time-consuming, we have developed a suite of new reports for customers. Through www.amerihealthexpress.com, customers can now run reports to identify:
- dependents reaching the minimum and maximum ages;
- dependents not automatically verified;
- handicapped dependents requiring a medical review to extend their status.
Any of the reports can be printed in PDF format or imported into an Excel spreadsheet.
The reports are found in the Membership Reports section on amerihealthexpress.com. We’ve also added online help to this section of the website for quick answers to questions about these reports.
SAMPLE TIME LINE
Below is a sample time line to help you better understand the new verification process. The time line shows the approximate dates for verifying full-time student status for an employer group that elects a twice-yearly verification. (The April verification will follow a similar schedule.)
October 1 | AmeriHealth sends to the NSC a full file of dependents above the minimum and below the maximum ages. |
October 4 | NSC sends the file back to AmeriHealth noting full-time student status; we update our records. |
October 10 | AmeriHealth sends letters to students who could not be verified through the NSC process. |
October 10 | 24/7 interactive voice response system opens for dependents to verify their status. |
October 31 | Dependents who have not verified their status are terminated*. |
*If a customer verifies student status annually instead of twice a year, verification will follow the same time line. However, terminations for dependents who have not verified their status will be effective December 31.
